OnePlus phones have been fan favourites for many years, but now the Chinese brand is targeting the smartwatch space.
Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, admitted so in a tweet – saying the device will arrive ‘early next year’.
The actual details on the watch are pretty thin on the ground. We don’t know what OS it will run or what the specs will be like.
Insiders suggest it’ll have a round face more akin to Samsung’s smartwatches than the ubiquitous Apple Watch.
But then again, the Oppo Watch is a dead ringer for the Apple Watch and OnePlus is owned by the same company as Oppo – BBK Electronics.
OnePlus originally had plans to bring out a watch several years ago but nixed the idea to concentrate on phones.
Still, the company does have experience making different accessories. It has recently launched its own AirPods-like OnePlus Bullets Wireless and (only in India) a smart TV.
When the OnePlus smartwatch does appear we can expect it to arrive on a wave of hype from the brand’s ardent fanbase.
