A bizarre-looking pillow promises to eliminate snoring by adjusting to any sleeping position during the night.
The ‘Matrix Pillow’ is currently raising funds on crowdfunding site Indiegogo and uses a two-layer composite material design to cater to any sleeping position.
Looking a bit like a chocolate biscuit crossed with an exercise mat, the pillow had a target goal of $5,000. It smashed through that barrier and, at the time of writing, has amassed $180,209 (£135,053) from eager – and presumably sleep-deprived – backers.
We’re not surprised. This year has drastically affected our sleep patterns whether or not we’re cursed with being a snorer.
The Matrix Pillow boasts a $99 price tag which is actually not that steep when you’re looking at the world of luxury pillows.
‘Most problems like head and neck pain, snoring, and insomnia are caused by improper sleep positions with a bad pillow,’ write the US team behind the Matrix Pillow on their campaign page.
‘When you turn onto your side your cervical spine goes out of alignment, leaving your head and neck without enough support and that muscle strain accumulates all night. A typical pillow can’t self-adjust to your different sleep positions to provide adequate support, leaving you feeling tired and sore in the morning.’
Backers who have pledged money to the product look set to receive the first batch later this month.
