Twitter appears to have suffered an unexpected outage across the UK leaving users unable to view or post tweets.
Reports started to emerge at 3pm that the micro-blogging service was having problems. Users began to report to DownDetector – which measures outages across popular platforms – that they couldn’t get access.
Users from areas like London, Aylesbury and North Yorkshire claimed they couldn’t access Twitter while others reported that it was down on both iOS and Android.
One frustrated user exclaimed: ‘can’t load twitter on my phone or pc?? what’s happened??’
While some members of Metro.co.uk seemed unable to access Twitter – others found it was working. All told, the outage seemed to last a mere five minutes.
Frantically tweeting ‘is twitter down????’ to poke fun at people freaking out about it.

The sting of Twitter receiving an outage will be met with some irony as the service tends to be one of the more resilient social media platforms out there.
Twitter was down for five minutes so I got a man with an England flag over his face to call me a twat so I didnât get withdrawal

If it’s out for you then our advice is just to sit tight. It’ll be back up again before long.
