TikTok is pretty easy to use, but downloading videos to your phone can be a bit trickier.
If you want to be able to watch your favourite videos without needing to be connected to the Internet, it’s a good idea to save them to your phone’s gallery.
TikTok allows users to share videos within the app, although if you want to listen to your favourite sea shanties or WAP covers, having them on your phone might be the option for you.
So how do you download videos from TikTok? It’s exactly the same for both iPhone and Android phones.
iPhone and Android
- Open TikTok and play the video you want to save
- Tap ‘Share’ on the right of the screen
- Select ‘Save Video’
- Wait until you see a green panel at the top of the app
- The video is now saved to your Photo Gallery, and will be automatically added to a TikTok album, too
Having problems downloading your favourite TikTok? It might be because the creator of the video has turned off the option to save it.
If you’ve made a TikTok and want others to be able to download it, make sure you have the ‘save video’ option turned on in the TikTok app.
To do this, open TikTok on your phone, and tap your profile icon on the bottom right of the screen.
Next, tap the three dots at the top right of the screen. Click on privacy and safety, and make sure you have the ‘Allow your videos to be downloaded’ setting turned on.
Now, people can download your TikToks to their heart’s content.
